Hemedex, Inc., was founded in 2000 to commercialize a proprietary platform technology conceived at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to quantify tissue perfusion (i.e., blood flow at the capillary level).

This technology addresses the need for real-time prognostic data in complex medical and surgical procedures.

These complex procedures often involve compromised vasculature, delayed ischemia, or other serious pathophysiology, resulting in high rates of morbidity, delayed recuperation, poor patient outcome, and higher overall costs.

Hemedex's patented technology can provide an early warning of impending tissue ischemia, help target appropriate therapies, and rapidly assess the effect of interventions on cerebral blood flow (CBF), thus providing clinicians with a powerful tool to enhance patient care.

Dr. Bowman is the inventor of the Company's technology and the founder of Hemedex. He concurrently served as the Senior Academic Administrator of the Harvard-MIT Division of Health Sciences and Technology for 40 years through September 2010. He served as a member of the Mechanical and Biomedical Engineering faculties at Northeastern University for 25 years, as a lecturer on Radiation Oncology at Harvard Medical School, and as Program Director for Biomedical Engineering at the National Science Foundation.

Dr. Bowman has a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Pennsylvania State University and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from MIT in Nuclear Engineering. He is the author of some 120 publications and abstracts, holds 20 patents and is a Fellow of the American Institute of Medical and Biological Engineers.

Chief Technical Officer

Mr. Welch joined the parent company of Hemedex, Inc. – Thermal Technologies Incorporated (TTI) – in 1991. Along with Dr. Bowman, he is one of the principal developers of the Bowman Perfusion Monitoring (BPM) system and is currently responsible for Hardware Design and Software Testing. He is a significant contributor to the Customer Service and Clinical Support roles of the company.

Since the inception of the Thermal Diffusion-based technology, he has been instrumental in the research and development of the QFlow500™ Perfusion Probe, the BPM, and the calibration and manufacturing processes. He has extensive experience in the development of medical and technical instrumentation.

James L. Neal, J.D.

Chief Legal Counsel & Board Member

Mr. Neal is an experienced attorney in corporate, commercial and patent law. He has 15 years of experience serving as Chief Legal Counsel for a major technology company and 8 years of experience in private practice. He is a co-founder of Hemedex where he oversees the development of intellectual property and legal affairs.

Mr. Neal has a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from North Carolina State University and a Juris Doctorate (Law) from American University in Washington, D.C.

Senior Director of Manufacturing

Deanna Bowman brings more than three decades of experience in precision manufacturing, research and development, product fabrication, and production leadership across medical technology, electronics, and defense-related applications. Earlier in her career, Deanna served as a Production Manager at Raytheon, where she supervised manufacturing personnel responsible for producing subassemblies used in the Sparrow missile guidance system and held clearance to support federal government contracts.

Throughout her career, Deanna has worked closely with design engineers to translate complex technical requirements into practical manufacturing processes. Her experience includes prototyping, probe production and calibration, precision device fabrication, production planning, and supervision of manufacturing teams ranging from 10 to 50 employees.

As Senior Director of Manufacturing at Hemedex, Deanna leads manufacturing activities supporting the company’s cerebral perfusion monitoring technologies, cranial bolts, and related accessories. Her extensive knowledge of precision probe manufacturing and hands-on production operations contributes to the consistent manufacture of Hemedex products and supports the company’s commitment to quality and reliability.

Director of Regulatory Affairs/Quality Assurance & Operations

Timothé Martin, Director of Operations & QA/RA, joined Hemedex in 2022. He effectively oversees manufacturing processes, manages facility and inventory records, and supports the management team in marketing and educating stakeholders/customers on the scientific aspects of Hemedex projects and products.

With a track record of successfully developing and executing regulatory strategies for product and company registrations, Tim has demonstrated leadership in overseeing FDA, EU, and ISO surveillance audits without any findings. Timothé graduated cum laude from the University of Massachusetts – Lowell with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology, specializing in Biotechnology, and a minor in Business Administration.

Daniel DeRienzo joined Hemedex in 2022. As a Client Services Manager, he works to maximize quality and efficiency of manufacturing processes, promote quality system improvements, manage customer relations, and drive sales and marketing efforts to reach new audiences.

Before joining Hemedex, Daniel worked in business management at Enterprise Holdings where he was responsible for overseeing and optimizing operations. Daniel attended the University of New Hampshire where he earned his Bachelor's degree in Business Communication.

Wendi DeRienzo joined Hemedex in November 2021 as Office Manager and now serves as Administrative Services Manager. She supports the company’s day-to-day operations, including accounts payable and receivable, human resources administration, and executive scheduling.

Wendi brings extensive experience in administrative operations and healthcare support. Before joining Hemedex, she spent nine years at Quality Insulation, advancing from Receptionist to Operations Specialist and Human Resources Administrator. Earlier in her career, she worked in medical administration as a patient advocate and scheduler for Shields Health Care Group and as a Medical Secretary supporting an obstetrics and gynecology practice.

Wendi also operated a daycare for more than 15 years while raising her family, an experience that further developed her organizational skills and commitment to helping others.

Senior Technical Advisor, Systems and Software Engineering

Michael Tymm serves as Senior Technical Advisor, Systems and Software Engineering, bringing more than 30 years of experience in the design and development of complex medical devices and other safety-critical systems. He previously spent more than a decade at Hemedex, where he held systems and software engineering leadership responsibilities and contributed to the development of technologies for measuring tissue blood flow in reconstructive and transplant surgery and for monitoring cerebral blood flow in patients with acute brain injury.

Mike’s medical-device experience spans patient monitoring, laser vision correction, robot-assisted vascular procedures, and robot-assisted general surgery. Throughout his career, he has served as an engineer, manager, and director, with expertise in system architecture, software development, requirements management, verification and validation, and the development of safe, reliable, and effective products.

Mike holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Rochester Institute of Technology and a Master of Science in Computer Systems Engineering from Northeastern University. He also completed MIT’s professional certificate program in Architecture and Systems Engineering and is an active member of the International Council on Systems Engineering. His longstanding knowledge of Hemedex technology and product history continues to support the company’s current and future product-development initiatives.

Stefanie Cantin brings more than 15 years of leadership experience across commercial medical devices and clinical-stage biotechnology. She previously spent 10 years with Hemedex, advancing through four progressively responsible roles and ultimately serving as Vice President and Management Representative. During her tenure, she held executive responsibility for the company’s Quality Management System and regulatory compliance while contributing to product development, manufacturing, operations, customer support, marketing, and commercialization.

Most recently, Stefanie served as Senior Director of Operations and Interim Quality Assurance at Privo Technologies, a clinical-stage biotechnology company developing innovative oncology therapies. Her responsibilities spanned clinical development, quality and CMC oversight, FDA regulatory support, business development, government-funded research programs, and corporate operations. She supported 38 IND sequence submissions, five formal FDA meeting preparations, a multi-site oncology master protocol, and approximately $9 million in non-dilutive National Cancer Institute funding. She also helped guide product and portfolio strategy, strategic partnerships, scientific communications, and Phase 3 readiness activities.

As Strategic Advisor, Product Development & Commercialization, Stefanie applies this cross-functional experience to support Hemedex’s product strategy, regulatory and quality planning, development programs, commercial initiatives, and strategic growth.

Stefanie holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a minor in Criminal Justice from Western New England University.

Mack has held various technology and business leadership roles in the electronics industry. At Analog Devices (ADI), he was Product and Technology Director for the Interface and Isolation Technology Group and held other roles leading technology strategy, system engineering, engineering management, and product marketing.

Mack holds MBA and MSEE degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a MEng in Electric Power Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and a BSEE from Brigham Young University. Mack is a Senior Member of the IEEE and a registered professional engineer.

Rick Tardiff served as Gray, Gray & Gray's International Business Partner, leading efforts to collaborate with chartered accountants and CPA firms in Latin America. He served the audit and tax needs of a wide range of businesses and their owners for over 30 years.

Rick is a graduate of New Mexico State University with a degree in accounting. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants.
